a super-fast attack is clamping down on your transient tho. It's leaving only a sliver of what it was. Wouldn't a slower attack and faster-release allow more of that transient to break through which is the "punch" of a snare while clamping down on the "ring" aka sustain and release of the waveform?
Maybe we have different definitions of "punch".. But the way i hear it, and the way i was taught, this is not a punchy snare with your settings. you're emphasizing the 'ring' of the snare with slow release. The transient is getting squashed with a fast attack, which makes it sound weak, hollow and thin...(maybe 'squashed' isn't the right adjective because of the ratio you're using..maybe more like 'squeezed'?) Lengthening your attack would restore more of the transient hit which is where the "punchy" sound/energy is contained in each percussive hit.
Not criticizing or saying it sounds bad, so dont get me wrong...i'm just curious over your use of adjectives tbh! May just be that we use different definitions of punch in different corners of the world.
