It's worse: in Oct MS deactivated my Win11 upgraded from retail 7 DVD years ago. I had to buy a new copy as MS refused to activate. I lost 2 retail upgrades now.

I have 7 64bit. If I get 10 or 11, some of my favorite programs won't run on them. I'm happy where I am at. Bill Gates once said, it's fine if you want to stay where you are, , , we're moving ahead. That's ok by me, I have everything I need.

Guys, windows 11 didn't come out until 2021. There were no free upgrades to windows 11 until it was released for obvious reasons of availability and having not been developed yet. You are thinking about when windows 7 and 8 stopped getting free upgrades to windows 10. I think what you are misunderstanding is that if you upgraded from windows 7 to windows 10, you can't then get a free upgrade to windows 11 if your were already upgraded to 10 for free previously. I have a legit copy of windows 10 pro that I upgraded from windows 7 pro and I have never been offered an upgrade to windows 11 for free. Also I understand there is some sketchy stuff in the windows 11 EULA so I have been avoiding buying a copy.

Eh, Linux is very accessible at this point. When they inevitably decide to shut down support for W10, that will be the push needed for people on the fence to switch OS.
