Like a helical pier system, a good deck support system without the hassle of digging holes and casting footings. The depth is 4 ft, so frost protected in areas with -25Ā° C weather.

I think you should use some thread locker just to be safe. I recommend using the blue one.

Yep, back when I was a kid we didn't have any fancy electric drill to put them in with, we did it with big screw driver standing on a ladder and they were flat heads not torx bits. Kids these days got it to easy. šŸ˜‚

If you donā€™t drill the pilot hole the ground may split. Friends donā€™t let friends cause earthquakes!!

If you notice there's a pilot screw laying on the ground most likely sent into the ground first to increase the odds of a clean application of the big screw

Yeah those are great for keeping your lawn down, very secure. Ground glue just isnā€™t strong enough, having a good mechanical connection is always superior.

We do this in Florida to keep the grass from blowing away in a hurricane. šŸ˜‚

We had an oil refinery insist on screw piles under some new equipment. They figured the pounded piles would trip sensitive equipment instruments and didnā€™t want the process unit tripped off. The screw piles were custom made for the weight. They worked fine.

Home Depot sells these. We used them to screw the roof up, I mean down

Make sure to call and get your underground utilities marked when you use this method. It would be a bad day if you hit a gas or electric line.
