I recently found out they had an old pre-war dance where theyd get their armor on and have their weapons, and formed a big rotating circle, with another group forming another circle inside that one, rotating the opposite direction while they chanted "toiya" ("victory") and it reminded me of how I have seen that same dance around people of the middle east, but this was their own thing..seems like yet another connection to that land before they stayed settled in northern Eur ope and its also yet another thing that was just lost to time.

Fun fact, after the battle of Hastings, many English nobles and warriors fleeing the Norman's would join the Varangian guard and by the end of the century made up a large majority of it. Though also I like the very real possibility of a number of English and viking warriors who fought on opposite sides at the battle of Stamford Bridge ending up both being in the guard together.
