His playing—thundering, fluid, and emotional—helped lead the 1980s blues revival, earning him a revered place among guitar legends. His performance with David Bowie on Let’s Dance also brought him crossover attention. 

Tragically, on August 27, 1990, Stevie Ray Vaughan died in a helicopter crash after a concert in East Troy, Wisconsin—he was just 35.  His talent and spirit live on through every soaring solo, every heartfelt performance, and every guitarist who follows in his footsteps.
