You want to start by familiarizing yourself with local repeater, download repeaterbook, practice listening with different settings and checking in. Check local clubs when you want more invlolvement. Radios can be borrowed thru clubs to explore HF too.

My dad was a ham all his life. I now have to deal with ALLLLLL HIS RADIOS, and I know a lot of them were very unique and special. How would I be able to price them? Is there a blue book of ham radios?
