This reminds me of that one time when i went to Spain via Toulouse. It was like 2 am and it got foggy all of the sudden, because i started to climb. I pulled over the second i saw a gas station and spend the night there. Ain't no way im driving in the fog at night heading towards the mountains, lol

Nice to see some truckers actually take other peoples well being into consideration. It’s easy to not give af when your safe driving a massive truck. So thank you.

It's pretty scary when someone passes you and you watch how quickly their tail lights disappear into the fog and realize just how low the visibility is.

The camera makes the visibility better…in reality the visibility is probably less. Be safe out there 🙏

This is one situation where LiDAR is a must. I’ve got a custom LiDAR system installed on my truck, shows on a display next to my gauge cluster. It’s not as fancy as Tesla’s native one, but it can show me what’s ahead several hundred feet, even in 0 visibility conditions.

Driving through fog is scary. I always make sure to have my CB radio on just in case there is an accident ahead or so I can warn others to back down in case of an emergency.

I drove that the same day you did I think. Crazy how it was clear up top, then thick fog, then clear at the bottom

Knowing the difference between your visibility distance and braking distance is very important, and knowing how much your reaction time increases your braking distance.

My mother in law recently took a job as a school bus driver, and told me the bus is riddled with electronic nannies that monitor her speed, stopping time, time spent with the doors open, idle time etc.

Now I know the tech exists to slap electric baby sitters in trucks and force them into a low speed march when the weather is bad. And given the number of truckers I see speeding through zero visibility situations, this is the tech we need to keep our roads safer.

I will say, following semi trucks in the fog is really nice, they usually have very bright lights and they’ll take the hit of anything in-front of them while you’ll have plenty of time to react and brake.

And got your flashers going too. You a real pro, driver.

When I was studying for my license test I remember in the instructive booklet that said: the speed limit it is not the one suggested by road signs but the one that the condition of the road and current visibility allow. And it stuck with me since then.

Well done man I've never driven a combination vehicle but I drove some pretty big straight trucks and that was nerve racking enough
