Back in the 1990’s when Gordon Murray was developing the McLaren F1. He approached Honda to make either a V8 or V10 for his car. Mugen did build both but Honda corporate did not green light the project.

I can only imagine VTEC on a V8. I know the vct setup on my 5.4 feels good but that's just a cam lobe separation at certain rps. VTEC is the cam using an axially lobe to open the valve's even more past 3,000 rps. It's noticable on my J32A. Like I said I can only imagine the difference in a V8.

There was a V10 they were testing in some prototypes of the nsx, but it burned to the ground on nurburgring so they decided for a smaller engine because the V10 was too hard to cool down and time constraints didn't allow for further development. Imagine that, the nsx with a V10. It would have sat in a totally different place than it is now. Literally nobody isntalking about this new honda nsx, but with that V10... It would have given the huracán something to play against.

That thing would cost $50k minimum with those specs. A 10k rpm V8 is wild.

I dont understand how people believe this sounds better then the old push-rod V-8s. They sound good, but no way. Id take the sound of an old 440 Chrysler, 454 Chevy, 427 Ford or Chevy, any day
