Lil Kim and Foxy Brown were the top 2 in their lane. Lauryn was in her own lane. Missy as well. I’d say these were the most sought after and revered females at that time. Followed by Eve and Trina. After which anyone else was really just a First Lady of their respective camp (not to take away from their talents and contributions): Rah Digga, Gangsta Boo and La Chat, Lefteye, Mia X, Queen Pen, Sole, Charli, Vita, Remy, Amil, Shawnna, Khia and Jackie O. I didn’t mention Da Brat because she was really the last of a dying breed (the Latifah-Lyte era) and was eclipsed once Kim and Foxy became the blueprint (a blueprint that is still carbon copied until today). Every artist thereafter with the exclusion of Missy and Lauryn owe their success to Kim and Fox—from Eve who came right off the heels of them to Sexy Redd today.

It was EVE, TRINA, KIM, FOXY, REMY, & MISSY holding it down in the 90s. They were ALL BOSS LEVEL. Now we have ALOT MORE female rappers, but not many of them are BOSS LEVEL like in the 90s. You had to ACTUALLY have TALENT to make it as a female rapper back then. The game has been so DILUTED over the years. ANYONE with a little bit of bread can rap these days/become famous/act/go viral...literally ANYONE. REAL RAW TALENT isn't appreciated like it used to be..
