For me, it was retraining and training. It started with Grace - traumatized ex rodeo horse who'd been in a trailer accident.
I was 15, she was 20.
She knew I was inexperienced. She was patient with me, and eventually started detecting my tachycardia episodes, warning me that my heart rate was too fast before I was ever diagnosed.
I was so close to being able to have that first ride with her. I'd started the jeffries method.
My trainer flaked out.
I'm 20 now. I still think of her.

* THIS IS MY RP CHARACTER* first started with Biscut, a 14 year old stally I rode since I was 9-14 he was not a horse I would call my dream. Just a lesson,
Then monty. I trained her at my stables since she was 3 was a lesson horse at my barn and I connected with her she was also my dream horse who always needed some leg on trail rides She taught me everything. I still have her, the little kids ride her now for easy breezy hacks. The calmest horse ever ^^
Then theres Jett, show jumping eventer and is very very bulky at 16.4hh ALWAYS sit back before you canter. * he is 5 years*
* my western rp*
I first had Plum, sheis now a 11 year old old gal used for hacks. She always loved snuggles.
Theres Teddy who is 7 years old, He is my barrel raceing horse Who always wanted to steal your food.
Theres Cheesecake, my all round time champoin.3 years old, but always un-does her lead and wonders off.
* this is at a stable I work at, who leads trail rides, and gives lessons. ^^*

For me it started with Abby... she was so stable that we would do "shoulder stands", stand up on her back, as beginners with no fear. Fun camp bareback riding on Queenie, the little pony who knew that it was a game of slamming on the brakes to have us slide off. Then first ribbons on Luke who always wanted to help you to put on his bridle. Power trots on Benji, then onto Duchess who was like a rocking horse so smooth, and Mandy, a reject RCMP musical ride horse who ended up just a little too short... gorgeous, and all the sweetest personalities... well except Benji who was a trouble maker 😂.
That was 30 years ago. A back injury has kept me from riding since... and I miss it so much... but instead, I offered to get lessons to my kids and my daughter took it up... we move on, we grow up, we share, and we never forget
