I disagree. The way he came back to his timeline and destroyed both of them effortlessly without powering up to ssj grade 2. They had to be weaker versions.

There actually WAS an Android 16, 19, and 20. Trunks just didn’t know about them because they weren’t the stronger androids. 17 & 18 WERE. He thought his earlier presence in traveling to the past altered time and brought forth 19 & 20, but they were just outshined in both timelines by the stronger androids, 17 & 18. What’s more likely? Trunks showing up to warn Goku & the Z-Fighters about the Androids showing up in 3 years makes 2 different Androids show up before the only ones he has knowledge of? Or that those 2 Androids Trunks didn’t know about were so weak in his original timeline that his remaining family and friends failed to mention them? Or 19 & 20 were killed by the 2 Androids Trunks knew about when 20(aka Dr. Gero) tried to awaken 17 & 18 just like he was in the timeline Trunks was attempting to save.

That’s not it. Cell is the reason why the main timeline was altered. There wasn’t an android 16 or 19 in future trunks timeline. 17 and 18 scales above base ssj1 or whatever you wanna call it after vegeta goku trunks or gohan came out from the time chamber.
