Thank you for providing context about Chuck's background. I always thought his bobbing was odd, because he would do ot in contexts that don't really make sense for the typical motives/meanings of beardie head bobbbing, since his bobbing usually doesn't seem directed at anything in particular, and he generally doesn't seem remotely upset while doing it. But given his background, it's likely some sort of self-soothing behavior he developed to cope, and essentially remind himself that yes, this is HIS stuff and no one is allowed to take it away from him.

I have a colony of wild agamas in my yard. I’ve been observing them for almost a year and I believe the head bobbing shows excitement. Whether they’re running towards food, or ready to mate, running after or away from a male rival, head bobbing is healthy. It’s how they show emotion. Some females bob as well.

I love Chuck and his head bobbing. I love how he uses it in both positive and negative situations like headbob can mean “that was an excellent worm” OR it can mean “Mother I require your attention immediately” OR it can mean “BEHOLD, EVERYTHING THE LIGHT TOUCHES BELONGS TO ME” or, apparently, it can mean “Mom! Look! I have destroyed your Halloween dishtowel! Hope you weren’t too attached to it!” 🤣 He is such a character and I love seeing what adventure you guys are having.
Your videos of Chuck have inspired me to look for all the ways my own Beardie communicates and better understand his personality. Also, offering more forms of enrichment to see what he likes and doesn’t. So, just know that in spite of all the ugliness the world may throw at you, you and Chuck are making life better for other dragons AND their humans

Chuck is one of the happiest pets I’ve ever seen. I wish you didn’t have to keep defending yourself, your husbandry is perfect. Context and personality play such a huge role in behaviour it’s never purely black or white. If the displays Chuck was doing was really a show of stress, anger or fear then why the heck would he keep interacting the way he does? The behaviours don’t connect, because he’s just a goofy boy living his best life with his mum who he obviously trusts and enjoys as part of his environment.
The reptile community really needs to start figuring out what’s worth praising or scolding because I see nothing but compassion and love towards this animal. Girl you are treating your boy like a King, don’t listen to these cringe people that probably haven’t been in the same room as a bearded dragon before ❤❤❤ I want to kiss Chuck’s dumb little face so bad I love himmmm.

#stopthehate I can believe anyone would give you hateful or mean comments about how you look after your scale babies. Especially Chuck, he’s such a healthy and happy boi. And we can all see he loves his Mum. ❤😊
