Using flamethrower is not a war crime even today unless you use it against civilians. Btw, this tank saved lives Literally. It's ment for assaults against fortifications and what Brits did was they got into position, performed something called "wet squirt" where they sprayed the fuel without igniting it into a bunker let's say, Germans would be soaked with it and would then get the message and run away or surrender, eliminating the need to fight in the first place and therefore saving lives on both sides. Even SS was not fanatical enough to fight when completely soaked in fuel and flamethrower tank just standing there and nothing you fire at it has any effect against it (it was specifically used only after destroying enemy heavy anti tank units). The one of the few times, where human cruelty actually saved lives.

I remember my first time stumbling into this. It was when I was brand new. Advance to the Rhine was the map, I was on A side, and I just saw this monster approaching out team. It shrugged off every shot and kept pressing forward... Then it's starting spewing flames everywhere. Took out our entire team on A side and left all of us with ptsd

Some guy came at me in this whilst I was in a KV-1S, we destroyed one another’s tracks for a full 5 minutes because we didn’t know how to pen one another

Actually, the tank is still a normal churchill, but the flamethrower is named "Churchill Crocodile", and not the tank itself

When the vehicle is on fire the sight from the gunners view is limited, so its somewhat useful against tanks in RB or sim

Flamethrowers were actually first conceptualised as anti air weapons during ww1 although they never were made for this purpose because planes got higher, stopped being made of cloth and the flamethrowers would have been huge.
