This is a perfect example of how simple grading should be. It starts with a subject that is basically skin tone against grey and black. The grade should start the minute we think about the image before shooting. Art direction and keeping things clean and simple in the composition plus a very simple clean light source. Simple node tree and a solid use of CST. Of course grading can get way much more complex but this shows that it doesnโt have to be complicated. Perfect result! Thanks for an excellent post.

Nice one, but I am wondering if you are doing a CST why did you just change the first 2 drop down to Blackmagic and not the other 2 drop downs to rec709? is there a reason for NOT doing the rest...?

Do you prefer this method over doing it straight away in the RCM?
I use to use CST and then found out about RCM, and it seem quicker to change the color space in the RCM, but then again I'm trying to find what the advantage is to do it using other methods (CST, or LUT, etc.)
