Taught for years and would greet students with... "what do you know today?" Was a great conversation starter, BUT, also found, it's not your opening greeting that counts... it's how we'll you listen to their response.

Make a special for people who work in coffee shops.. constantly all day people walk up to me, fresh out of their phone asking for a coffee, and everyone is on auto pilot. So sad.
