We love this dude. The best part is his trainer. It was his dad (R.I.P.) who had no trainer education, was not a high jumper and had a regular job in between Stefanās competitions which his father not always could attend due to work but he knew everything about high jump. Stefan is a very nice guy.

This guy became a legend in Sweden. Truly liked by the people. After his career he made it clear that he wasn't just an athlete by going on various gameshows and proved his knowledge in basically all fields.
His son is now a high jumper. A rather talented one at that. Stefan is his trainer, but he's just 18 years old so he just turned pro really.
Stefan Holm's technique also laid the foundation for people like Barshim, which is clear as he even went as far as copying his mannerisms before jumps for many years.

I ran track for years, HS and NCAA. IMO the High Jump was one of the most incredible feats in all of T&F. To see it up closeā¦standing next to the pit, itās just amazing. Iāve stood 10 feet away from Hollis Conway and watched him Jump, I think it was 7-4ishā¦. Youāre thinking ā¦ thereās NO freaking way a human can get over that barā¦ then he does itā¦ just incredible.

Thanks for the throwback. I remember listening to this on the radio while sitting in a bus, waiting to travel home from the Vasa Race that I had participated in for the first, and this far only, time. It wasn't a "small indoor meet", though. It was the Indoor European Championships. An epic battle with Alexander Rybakov.

This was not a āsmall meet in Spainā it was the indoor European Champs. It was amazing! He had a PB of 2.36, he took one attempt at what would have been a new PB of 2.38, then his competitor cleared it so he passed to 2.40 and made it.
