Interesting! I'm sure at some point i'll probably end up trying this. But, for years now, whenever I deal with Torx fasteners I ALWAYS try one size larger, just to see if it fits. Been lots of times I felt like I had the right one, but then found out the next bigger one actually fit.
The way torx fasteners / bit feels is different then most other fasteners / tools, it can be misleading.
And using one size too small on a torx fastener lots of times strips out the fastener in a way its hard to fix (rounds off most of the sharp edges, doesn't leave much to grab onto).
I SUSPECT (just personal guess here), that a bunch of the frustration of dealing with torx fasteners comes from this issue (besides just needing to have that many more tools in the toolbox, and the fact that there are some standards out there which look like torx but are actually slightly different.... or having torx fasteners put in with red / permanent loctite, and not knowing that beforehand...)
