Alternative study tips👇

Here’s what I figured out worked for myself:

1. Flow state: Studies show that it takes 15-20 minutes of concentration to get into flow state where then your work feels so much easier to do and be focused on. If I’m on a roll, I want to take advantage of that momentum and just take breaks according to my intuition and how I feel that day!

2. Annotating: For my classes, I just take regular notes down the page but annotate and highlight with color coding. Annotating in the margins of your notes and homework keeps you more engaged and comes in handy when you study for exams.

3. 1-achievement rule: Instead of using an arbitrary time of 5 minutes to stop procrastinating, I’ll tell myself to finish just one problem or do one concrete task to get myself on a roll.

4. Quizzing myself: Rewriting notes is passive and making notes aesthetic is not the best use of time. Thus, I use active recall!

I don't consider pomodoro overrated cause I don't see it as the typical 25/5 session. A lot of people don't use it that way. If it takes the brain 15-20 min to get into a flow than it could perfectly be a 40 or 50 min session with 10min break. You use pomodoro but adjust the times to your needs.

I actually find that the pomodoro is helpful for studying that I especially don’t want to do. I guess having a set time for me helps in getting some studying in rather than procrastination.

Pomodoro helps getting out of a rut. It allows you to phase out your addictions or disappointment. Helps you build the habit of showing up and studying.

Dear Amy,

Thank you so much for your help and amazing videos due to which I recently took the exam and scored 78/80, which was the highest in the class. The teacher and my classmates were very impressed. 😄

I am also happy to report that my mom has started listening to your podcast. She is enjoying it very much and plans to listen to it more often.

Thank you again for your help.
Best regards,
Lyann

Hi I'd like to remind some of you guys that some study tips may or may not work depending person to person, for example the Pomodoro method works for me when I'm trying to focus but that changes person to person, so it doesn't matter what method you use as long as it works for you, though, yes some of the the methods she recommends can be very helpful not every thing is the same for everyone

I used Cornell notes only once and it was 3 years ago and I still remember everything I wrote till this day. The only problem I feel with this method is that it actually takes quite a lot of time and effort but I found it effective.

25 dk çok az ve sürekli ara vermek bölücü kesinlikle katılıyorum 90 dk / 30 dk çok daha verimli

It’s all experimentation and all of this advice works for different type of people. Some of these things get me an A in every exam. It honestly depends on what type of learner you are. The pomodoro technique doesn’t work for me because I get into a flow state but it works for people who have small atttention spans and hate studying. Saying an advice is bad and overated is not a credible thing to say but you can share what works for you and maybe people who have similar traits like you can improve

Nah, pomodoro is good, I had a huge mental breakdown during pandemics and pomodoro helped me to get on track again and don't get burned out again.
