I have an old sc10 that I have been putting far more power to than it should be capable of for years now without changing or replacing any transmission parts, including spur and pinion. I have flipped it all kinds crazy stuff without issues. I am 99% sure yours broke because of the brand and quality. Arrma and Traxxas are both made for "bashing" but are much heavier and more prone to breaking.
