Talking to Hindus, I realized that they'll love anyone that loves their mother India.
I always wondered why I see so many Hindus praying in Gurudwaras or Buddhist monasteries, although I know their past connections. I vividly remember speaking to a local Marathi vendor in Mumbai about Punjab, Amritsar, etc. He immediately folded hands and said, "Oh, it's the land of our Sikh Gurus. Please visit our golden temple." Then I asked him about the far lands of the north-east of India. He replied, "It's the land of the brave, the land of martyrs. We love them. Great culture and welcoming people. You will see many beautiful churches there, brother."
All in all, I truly felt Hindus are innately secular. Whenever I spoke of the Prophet, Jesus, or Buddha with a Hindu person, their immediate reaction would be, "Oh, they're all gods; we're too small to even comment on them. We just fold our hands, do namaskar."
