As far as the competitiveness or Win loss streaks its fake its been fake since the 60s.. But chris isn't wrong unless you've done bumps been stretched out you have no real clue. I refer to wrestling as violent stage acting because any given spot could severely injure the performer look at Big E... If its done right the dance looks perfect your left wondering how badly that guy is hurt in the ring

Long before I ever saw Jericho in this interview, any time a friend of mine asked about my enjoying wrestling, they’d inevitably ask if I realized it was fake. I’d pretty much always respond my saying that it’s really not fair or accurate to use the word “fake.” And I’d more or less explain it exactly how Chris does in this clip. The violence is simulated, it’s not an actual competition, and the results are pre-determined, but they are putting themselves in very real danger with each stunt, and actual harm and pain is a reality of every match. They have to invent characters, cut promos, memorize dialogue, ad-lib, write outlines for matches, non-verbally communicate their stunts with each other in-ring in real-time. And they’re on the road most of their year.
“Fake” is reductive. It’s derisive. Pro-wrestler is a brutal and demanding career path. These men and women deserve some respect.
