It’s not even just the girl vtubers, it’s just girls as a whole…. Went to AXLA this year as Chun-Li, and wasn’t prepared for the amount of people stopping and asking for photos. I was really overwhelmed, since it was the first time it had ever happened, and I was standing there (in the main hall) for three hours on Friday alone, unable to step away because the crowd was so packed… now I want to say that I’m beyond thankful and grateful that I was able to meet so many people and I love making people happy, but the problem was from the lack of consideration by many con-goers and photographers who didn’t ask for my permission or who aimed their cameras in a way that felt very violating. For f-sake, as an example- I saw a dude using his phone to sneak underwear shots at female cosplayers… it was so bad on Thursday and Friday that many photographers and cosplayers posted on their instas Saturday reminding people to look out for each other and remind everyone that cosplayers are people too, who need breaks and who deserve respect.
Even though it was crazy and things like that happened, I still had an amazing time as I made new friends, spent time with old ones and got to enjoy the amazingness that the anime community is. I hope you did too!! ✨
