Many people approach their relationships the same way— asking what they can get, being overly concerned about receiving love/acceptance, and being under concerned about their own capacity to give love and acceptance to others.
I really wish that the inability to love others properly (in a way that doesn’t require the other person to disown parts of themselves) was more disturbing than not receiving love.
But in general I see the opposite play out, where people become victimized if they aren’t receiving what they need from their relationships and create entire narratives that completely bypass their own role in potentially contributing to such a dynamic…
