Honestly you don’t even need to wait. Just make the paste in the pan and use a scrubby apparatus to clean it, just like you would w soap. The baking soda is such a fine abrasive that it readily removes material without much effort.
For really tenacious chunks, use a scraper, anything will work, as long as it’s thin and firm. Follow all of this up w a quick soap and water wash and you should be good to go.

I do baking soda a splash of vinegar and whatever dish soap I have dawn works best. Mainly baking soda and dish soap so its thick. I scrub it in then glop the paste onto the stained parts then scrub it as usual and it's gone.
