I love how much I get to learn from being a mom.

I grew up in a city and NEVER planted anything!

I’ve read how important gardening and caring for plants is for Montessori, but to be honest, I was stalling, I didn’t think that would work for us, plus she did it at school anyways, so she didn’t needed it at home…🤷🏼‍♀️

Then, we had to pull Abby out of school and she didn’t have that experience anymore…

My mom guilt led me to create my own little garden, it has been a really fun learning process, I never though it was going to work, But it is growing!!! 🎉🎉

Abby practices so many social skills by simply taking care of her plants, here are some:

✅ Patience: she has to wait not only until the plants grow, but she loves to water them, she has to be patience because she only gets to do it once a day
✅ Decision making: she has to decides what seed we are planting, whether the plants need more water or not, if they need more sun, if we need to move them, how much water they need…
✅ Fine motor skills: she learns to scoop and transfer, she moves the plants from one place to the other, she pour water in to the jar and then she waters the plants…
✅Empathy: she is learning to take care and love her plants, she will then see that her love and effort will flourish in beautiful plants!
✅ Responsibility: she is responsible of taking care of the plants.

Plus: it gives us a great quality time activity, being outside is healthy, and we really enjoy it!!
