This is a pretty rare genetic mutation that can only be inherited if I believe both parents have it so I'm unsure it's actually related to the other cat while it could have the gene and not the mutation it's highly unlikely like 0.00000×13+.1 unlikely. It's a miracle the cat is alive at all the same gene that provides the ear mutation is also capable of causing a lot of fatal medical issues that almost always result in death before it's even born. Also for those wondering, the cat does not have better hearing as only the outer part of the ear is duplicated not the internal structure. In short having a cat with the gene and the mutation that survived birth is very very impressive.
