Robert Eggers’ 2022 film, The Northman, will certainly leave you with… something… be it the gruesome murders, questionable growling, or weird ass mother-son relationship. I watched this film as part of an Icelandic Sagas course which definitely gave me an interesting perspective. Whatever you may take from this film, you can count on its depiction of medieval Icelandic and Viking society. Eggers has become known for his attention to historical detail with his films “The Witch” and “The Lighthouse” and today we're going to look at what occurred behind the scenes to answer the question:
