Thomas, the short cuts off mid sentence at the end. I'd be grateful if you could address the editing issue long term (fixit in post...), and pin the entire final sentence you intended to say to the top of the comments.
Thank you for all the knowledge you share with us, with care and compassion.

I'm in menopause and the only exercise that has actually helped me is weight lifting. I can really feel and see the difference . I am so much stronger and feel younger and can see my abs now .I'm 55 and feeling more alive ❤❤❤

That study will change by the end of the year. They will 'discover' that it was all wrong.

Just do whatever you can whenever you can.

Fasting is probably the healthiest thing you can do. Fasting stimulates the body's inner healer. Phil Mickelson, the pro golfer, does a 36 hour fast every week because he finds it keeps his arthritis away.

Gives me a headache, not you, the science.
I'll watch you successfully workout and eat while I snuggle under the blankets on couch.
I love you Thomas!

I always get my v02max up lifting with very short rest periods and I’m 53 and still kicking like a sensei❤️✊🏽

90% max heart rate for 4 minutes, then rest for 3 minutes. Repeat 3 more times. Do this 4 times a week. MaxHR Tanaka formula for over age 40 : MaxHR = 208-(0.7*age); otherwise the fox formula is OK: MaxHR =220-age.

I sometimes wonder if our tests for VO2 max favor these rather than actual real life exercise.

The test I know of are a 12min cooper test or 1 mile walk test. I find that if my exercise fits these 2 test formats, my Apple Watch will update my scores and it will go up.

If I do intervals or exercise that doesn’t neatly fit within 1 mile walk or steady state for 12ish minutes, Apple Watch will update scores with lower VO2 max.

There's an outdoor hill by my house that takes me almost exactly 3 minutes to sprint. Perfect

My understanding of interval training is that it’s close to maximum intensity for short periods of time like sprints during an ultimate frisbee game for example. You can’t sustain that for three minutes it’s not really interval then you could probably push it to maybe 75%.

Anything in moderation up to the upper limit before pushing it past. If your an athlete whether its for explosiveness, strength, or extreme cardio… you have to push it over which is arguably not good for longevity… however for normal people just dont over do it😅

What you left out is that if you do HIIT you will be completely exhausted. It’s hard to stick with it.

Were carnivores represented in this study? (ie. was it actually objective)
