An old wood cutter here. We did this in the late 70s until the mid 80s, hand split our wood. It's very impressive to watch anyone hand split wood, but be aware that it destroys your rotator cups in your shoulders. My father's shoulders are destroyed because of it and mine are too. I was hand splitting up until about 2000. Now I use a gas splitter. We burn through about 10,000 pounds of wood and 800 pounds of coal a year to heat.

Weird how soothing I found the sound of wood chopping. Wass listening to it for almost 15 minutes before realizing it was on loop.
