I used a similar design about 30 years ago except it used serrated blades. One of the hinges fatigued to the point that it completely failed. I'm very thankful to this day that I wasn't on the tangent that it came off at because that thing punched a hole in the bed of an F250. String is fine for me.

The reviews have a lot of horrible safety issues, blades flying apart etc.

Looks like a good head. At my house I use the stihl 3 string head where you load 10ā€ individual strings that I cut from the roll. This uses the thickest string possible and the only thing is every once in a while I will clean out the feed mechanism for the strings because it will start to throw strings when it gets gunked up. Iā€™ve tried the shuriken style blades but they cause the weed whipper to wobble a lot and itā€™s just too much for me. I settled with the hard plastic trimmer blades for the echo speed feed for dense brush and it works great. I canā€™t believe how strong the plastic is and they never break just get worn down. Also yea trimmers will throw rocks out if youā€™re not careful so you want to angle the head when trimming so it throws rocks away and not towards you, Iā€™ll still catch a stray pebble every once in a while so I usually just wear glasses and a gaiter around my face. Also when a car is passing stop weed whacking and let the car pass so you donā€™t end up flinging rocks at their car or breaking a window

These types of trimmer heads have been out for30+ years. I remember seeing them as a kid in homedepot

Have fun explaining why the plastic or wood has huge chips taken out of it.

Some of these comments seem to forget that you can buy specialty trimmer heads that are literally shurikens in shape and actual saw blades

Of course this thing isnt safe, its god damn metal, neither is a chainsaw safe but it gets the job done, dude even says to not use the trimmer head like a saw, so hes atleast being honest

In my defense, its actually a great product, gets dense brush and lasts longer than plastic teeth, honestly not a bad product

How long does this unit last under "Normal" circumstances? (Say, Just doing normal yard maintenance like edging and trimming around the bases of trees and bushes)
Can you re-sharpen the individual blades as they become dull or do you have to replace the whole thing as an assembly?
Do you sell extra blades and other parts that make up the trimmer making it serviceable?
Will it connect to any existing string trimmer?
Or when you purchase one of these are there parts available with the head in order to retro-fit it to fit a specific trimmer?
How much does it cost?

Wait til you nick a stone and the blade gets bent or chipped. Think of the replacement cost, the imbalance from those blades and the risk of injury from hardened steel flying back at you

I guarantee Dan sells well just judging off his way of talking about his business. Humble introduction, US based, useful product, good enough to have made it into big box stores, & the "just call me with any questions" guarantee.

We used the vinyl version of these. Metal blades, when they bend and chip, won't recess back into the center. Vinyl blades just chip at the tips and keep going. You can also replace the blades individually.

This thing is fine if you don't intend to get close to hard objects. Wear pants and goggles when weed eating.

Anyone else wondering who uses a weed trimmer to cut down three-inch trees to begin with? Also, you know what else cuts through thicker grass. Thicker cutting line, and you don't have to change your head to do so.

In my experience just use string unless you get to cutting some small shrubs or tall weeds which is when you get the solid steel blade
