This is tricky. A 14-yo should know not to make comments like this, and OP clearly felt uncomfortable by the comment. I do think she has the right to get an apology. On the other hand, asking for one after time has already passed will put her daughter in a really awkward situation, and it might end her new friendship. I think OP should have dealt with the situation when it happened, because now she is making her daughter's life difficult.

Listen can we not pretend like kids aren’t assholes?😂 worked in childcare for years and they are the most honest little shits ever but you just gotta love em and gotta move on. Sometimes you gotta laugh it off. A little laugh cry but still a laugh

That poor kid is probably mortified for blurting out something so stupid. Haven’t we all done it ? I did. I felt terrible for almost 30 years because I said the wrong thing as a little girl and made my friend cry, she didn’t understand. I was giving her a compliment because I thought her skin color was so pretty. Her skin was beautiful and I told her what I thought was a huge compliment….. I told her I liked her skin because it looked like chocolate milk. She began to cry, and I didn’t know what to say, and I felt terrible all those years until I ran into her again as an adult. I awkwardly explained as an adult that I had carried around so much guilt for making her cry when I was trying to tell her how lovely she was. She was just as sweet as she could be.

As a bigger woman myself i don't see what she said as an insult, the girl was only telling it like it is😅

Her kid said,'That's over, & i didn't want to bring it up again'. That's kid wording, for she already talked to the friend about it.

Ok but she said bigger women not fat or chunky just bigger that’s not even an insult in my opinion

The kid told the truth, just live with it.

You're overreacting. Being "bigger" isnt even a bad thing. While it can be uncomfortable to hear, it is no reason to beef with a teenager.

I was in a similar situation before. I was trying to be nice, but didn’t realize I had said something not so smart that the other person wouldn’t enjoy hearing. They laughed it off and I never brought it up again.

The daughters friend knew exactly what she said. Teens are so advanced than I ever was. I'm 55, and I am shocked how these younger kids know more about adult things that I do!! 😮 idk this world is crazy.

I have a friend that CONTINUOUSLY tags me in "big girl" posts along with ads for weight loss goals.......... I weigh 120 pounds, but I would be offended regardless.

Ask for an apology in the moment or laugh it off.

Sure I don’t think we should talk abt other people’s bodies especially when we just met them but I also don’t see what was said as an insult it was just bad wording and holding a grudge against a child over that is not a good look

If you want to teach the child, TEACH the child. You dont stew over it for a month OR put your child in an uncomfortable situation like this. This is so petty for an adult to do. This jar is gorgeous!

People need to stop using the excuse "they are kids." They know when they are being rude and hurtful. I bet if you said it to them, their feelings would be hurt, so please tell me how they don't know and deserve a pass. Those passes are why we have so many rude, disgusting adults.
