I just like doing it by starting and ending at the point that would make a nice, vertical line symmetry.
Besides, it's logically better for lefties, as there are 3 lines where we pull the pen rather than pushing it, 2 lines for that.

I go 4 1 3 5 2 because I was instructed to do it that way.. I'm curious if other people were shown different orders by their parents/teachers or just learned it naturally/intuitively. Very interesting. I'm ambidextrous but judging by the comments I don't think which hand you primarily write with actually matters in determining what order you go (I also do it the same order with both hands for the record). I hadn't even thought that other people might draw it in a different order honestly, it's pretty cool to know though
