I’m a skier and I never ditched friends even when my ability was at an expert level. I would prefer that my friends who couldn’t ski the backcountry had the time of their lives on the groomers while I gave them helpful tips to better enjoy their days. Just seeing the big grins was enough. If I needed my time in the backcountry I would never bring a friend who wasn’t at least at my level or better. Some of my best days were spent with friends who were trying to be as nuts as I was but were at an intermediate+ level and seeing them pushing their own boundaries was exceptional fun.
