That one about killing within a bloodline wasn't Supersession we used to have a real problem about blood fudes where one guy was honor bound to kill someone from your line due to you killing someone from there line then since they killed someone from your line you had to kill someone from their line, this sometimes continued for quite a while until someone payed for the life in coin instead of blood just to end the bloodshed. What the advice is saying is don't give anyone a reason to be honor bound to hunt you down because then you live longer.
