Not only amsterdam… its just that people in the bigger cities act like they are special and important somtimes even arrogant.i originaly come from rotterdam but now live in a small village for us it doesnt matter who you are everybody is friendly, if you need help people will be happy to helpt you. I can keep my bike with the key in it in front of the door knowing no body will take it. If something happens in the village u will know it in no time. Overall… my experience with smaller villages is way better but maybe it is just who i am i dont like the busyness

Let me preface by saying I love your channel and content. You both make me smile with your genuine view and Anglo sarcasm, I appreciate your efforts to understand the Netherlands and not remain in your expat bubble. Kudos to you. Now, as to Amsterdam.. Born there, it’s not what it used to be, too many tourists, expats. I hate having to speak English now to complete nitwits who don’t understand a thing about the place they are staying, working in. Disgusting how little effort they invest, how hard can it be to learn five lines of Dutch to accept a coffee order? Anyways, Amsterdam has become a cliche of its former self. Amsterdam humor is now a rare thing. Where are the original Jordaan singers? The wallen are a complete joke about to be eradicated by Halsema ‘s erotic center. It’s all going to shite and never coming back.

I think amsterdam represents all the negative dutch stereotypes:
- Weed everywhere
- Prostitution
- Drunk people and parties everywhere
-Pretty bad violence and theft rates
-Rude people
-Overpopulated with tons of tourists
The first two points especially. they contradict the values of the rest of the country where weed and prostitution is frowned upon
So when a non amsterdam dutch person inevitably runs into a foreign person on vacation, they always get a question along the lines of:
"Ohhh Netherlands, amsterdam!" "Nice women, great parties and weed, no"?
To which most people outside of Amsterdam have to say they don't do prostitutes or weed. which completely shocks the other person 90% of the time.

People from Amsterdam can be a bit cocky and think their city is the only place that matters and anything outside of it isn’t worth their time. A lot of Dutch people don’t like that attitude.
Personally I don’t hate Amsterdam or the people living there. It just has become to crowded with tourists.
