I'm a retired maintenance mechanic. I use the tools that work. Couldn't afford the tool truck tools. Craftsman made me a good living. My brain and skillset made me even more money. I've bought cheap HFT tools to modify for special one off purposes. It comes down to the money. Guys i worked with have tool truck tools they will be paying on for years. I cash flowed all my tools.

I’m not a professional by any means, but my neighbor is a electrician, used to be a framer. He uses harbor freight Bauer in his garage and makita on the job site. And they work just fine. I personally have a few harbor freight tools like ratchets and screwdrivers. And for the little bit of small work i do, it’s definitely worth it

I couldn't agree more. These guys cray about where tools are made while 90% of what they own comes from overseas. And when it's "made in America" many times the materials needed are not.
I'm am an American. I defend our Country. I'd die for my Country. I believe we need to return more back to this country. But I also agree, any job created here brings revenue here. Amazon tools may never see anything American til it hits the doorstep of someone's home. Same with eBay. Buying decent tools from a local store employs many jobs, contractors and more keeping a lot of that dollar right here in the USA. Of course support US made, but when those US made tools cost $500,000 or more and the college kid can get it for $50,000 and still do the exact same work, we need less debt and more jobs

Alright I'll finally put my 2 cents in. If you're a master level A tech working at a dealership or some big shop that you do heavy work constantly or just a TON of work HF may not be the choice but for anyone who isn't a pro, a new GS tech, and even C and B techs HF tools do work and work well. Even the low end Pittsburgh stuff works. I've been a tech for a few years and my first ratchet was a 3/8 long flex head Pittsburgh and I still use it randomly over my $250 matco ratchet. Not because it's better or I'm less worried about buying but genuinely because it doesn't feel that much worse than my matco. Just my opinion!
