I'd walk through 'the glass store' with my then, 18 month old. While not holding hands I 100% knew that she would get real close but never touch. She would scare the absolute crap out of every employee on the floor. Usually they didn't notice her until we were finished our shopping & headed on out the door. The phrase "look with your eyes not your hands" is so powerful - I always try to give a positive instrucción l instruction vs a negative "don't do that". Absolute game changer!
And yes, they read our body language as much or more than the words! Clever little kid brains!
