When I first heard that title I thought "Daughter is leaving used bloody pads/tampons in the trash without covering them in front of toddlers" but they are teenagers. One of them is literally an adult. And the blood is probably covered. What, do you want her to carry her tampon that's soaked in fresh blood to another trash can or something? YTA.

My boyfriend only had brothers. One older, one younger. Their mom never really told them anything about women's problems and periods and such like that. At least not much. My boyfriend sometimes mentions that his mom going through menopause was a bit rough but that's as much as he knew. When I told him about periods, he told me I was the first girl to go in depth about it. He didn't look at me disgusted either. He understood it's just a natural thing that happens and he supports me if I ever need anything like painkillers, snacks, cuddle time, etc. There's no excuse for being immature about periods.

I don't share a bathroom since I live alone, but I do warn my friends not to look or dig in the trash because I am not going to waste toilet paper and I'm also not going to risk clogging the toilet by flushing them either. So my trash has potential to be really gross. Oh well.
I do feel bad (a little) for the people that dig through our trash dumpsters though. I just wince when I see them

Honestly hes not the AH. One hes a guy and lets be Honestly most dont really know how periods work. He was kindly trying to help the situation considering how gross she is being. Her mom needs to clearly teach her how to properly dispose of used period products. Just throwing a used product on the top of the trash is not only gross but also super unsanitary. She should be wrapping them up. And if she truly cared about the environment she wouldnt be using pads or tampons. She woulve be using a reusable option such as a diva cup or period panties.

Here's an update
UPDATE — Not even two hours after I posted this, my wife and stepdaughter gathered my sons and I and gave us a full intensive “periods for pricks” course, Powerpoint and all. It was a hoot, they made an interactive quiz and everything. My sons and I learned a lot and apologised to my stepdaughter. Thankyou for your input
