And notice I don’t mention any sort of restriction of portions— because it’s not necessary! They should always be able to eat enough to feel full and satisfied.
Weight can be a tricky topic— I get that. These are all habits that are not designed to achieve a certain body size, but to help your child feel their best and get the most out of their nutrition!
Remember that just because they are a higher weight percentile or higher BMI does not necessarily mean they are unhealthy or that anything needs to change. My son was always around the 75-85th weight for length percentile and the doctor and I were not concerned in the slightest- he just has a thicker build!
So please do not worry if that’s the case for your child. This is really only a concern if you notice they are increasing in body fat more than you typically see on them. And of course if you have any concerns about their health reach out to their doctor 😘
