Foreign workers & employers, this affects you! 👇

⚠️ Canada won’t process low-wage LMIA applications in these 26 cities (CMAs) ⛔

🛑 LMIA Banned Cities (if unemployment rate is 6%+):
• Toronto
• Montreal
• Ottawa-Gatineau
• Vancouver
• Calgary
• Edmonton
• Windsor
• Hamilton
• Peterborough
• Oshawa
• St. John’s
• many more!

📉 Why? Because unemployment in these regions is 6% or more.

📅 Ban is valid until October 10, 2025

🆕 Cities now removed from the ban list:
✅ Red Deer
✅ Kelowna
✅ Guelph
✅ Drummondville

🔍 How to check if you’re impacted:
1️⃣ Find your job location’s postal code
2️⃣ Check the CMA via Census site
3️⃣ See if your CMA is on the banned list

💡 What to do if you’re impacted?
• Ask employer to increase your wage (switch to high-wage LMIA)
• Wait for next quarterly update
• Target jobs in eligible CMAs
• Try applying for jobs in exempt sectors (agriculture, food, care, etc.)

✅ Already applied for extension? You’re under maintained status

✅ Lost job? You may still switch employers under IRCC’s special policy.
