It's with great sadness to report that Big South Fork Scenic Railway #106 has been severely damaged in a runaway and derailment. #106 crashed into a gorge after losing brakes. This was the BSFSRY's main locomotive. Now it's destroyed. #106 is an SW9. The fate has yet to be determined. However it's most likely gonna get scrapped as they can't afford to repair it.
RIP Big South Fork Scenic Railway #106 1951-2025 :(
This is another tribute to a locomotive with an unfortunate fate.

Very sad seeing the locomotive getting in derailment like that I’ve rode behind that locomotive many times. I always love going to Sterns to see this locomotive and many others. It just won’t be the same.
