It's crazy to think how far he would have thrown a javelin before the redesign of 1984, of which Uwe Hohn threw a javelin 104.80m. after the 100m mark had been broken, due to safety fears, the governing body had to redesign the javelin to not fly so far because of the length of the infield of the track.

As a kid, I used to absolutely dispise this man with a passion. I was always a Steve Backley fan and Jan beat him almost every single time they met 😂. Looking back though, Jan was just incredible in every way at javelin

Haha, that brought back a memory. I set the school record for javiln throw in 6th grade. I'm 51 now , and the record still stands. LOL, mainly cause they don't throw it anymore.

You may add he trains next generation for example he have trained Barbora Špotáková (a gold winner of LOH 2008, 2012) Vítězslav Veselý (bronz LOH 2012, 2020). And yea he still trains. Greetings from 🇨🇿

Back in High School most of the javelin throwers were struggling to hit 150 feet...but during the County Meet a guy from neighboring school threw over 200feet and nearly killed people because they thought they were safely out of the landing zone.
Later in the year I saw a guy get nailed through the leg with one and then later one bounded flat off of a guy's shoulder and went straight into another guy's forehead. VERY dangerous device!!!
