My dad once told me about seeing a documentary once when he was a kid in the early 1960s about a Russian village that was taken over during winter by wolves during the late 1940s or early 50s.
There were such a huge pack of wolves prowling the village streets that the villagers were afraid to leave their homes and most of their livestock had been killed and eaten by the wolves and a few villagers themselves had went missing and were presumed to have been eaten as well.
When word finally reached he Soviet military about the villagers problem, they had to send in a company or two of infantry on skis to thin out the wolves and drive them out of the village.
While this has nothing to do with this episode.
The intro to it reminded me a lot of what my dad once told me.
