This is how the new puppy we adopted from the local shelter acts. We got him about 3 months ago. He's scared of most everything. We are trying to work with him and he is getting better every day but it's heartbreaking to see them scared of so much.

It's great that you're working with your dog to help get more confident. Though, there are some things that i would not do with my trauma dog, such as pulling her leash to force her to try something, or insisting with my hand, facing her (both are extremely stressful for her) but that is because i've also been working with horses, i have other ways to get to the same result and know that patience can go a long way too (even if it seems not to at first).
It took us a few months to have a real bond and for her to trust me completely, and another year and a half for her to trust my fiance the same way (she was extremely fearful of tall men and is still hyper-reactive to sudden noises). And it worked 🎉

See my dogs dogs this but he is always on high alert when we go out for walks and I hate to say this but I get so frustrated with him and I try my best to be patient I don’t if I just need to try different methods but I ran out.. he’s a great dog just fearful for sure
