Along with his then-boss, Miguel Ángel Félix Gallardo, he forged secret alliances with the CIA.

But his impulsive and paranoid personality led to numerous mistakes.

Caro Quintero, unlike any other drug trafficker, wounded the pride of the United States of America by ordering the kidnapping and t0rtur3 of a DEA agent.

Following his release from a Mexican prison in 2013, capturing him became an obsession for the U.S. government, determined to see him incarcerated in a U.S. prison until his dying day.

Yet, Caro Quintero has successfully evaded extradition and remains far from an inactive kingpin. He is running his lethal cartel from his jail cell, waging a battle against none other than the Chapitos, the sons of his former friend Joaquín 'El Chapo' Guzmán.
