I used to have a silver ring I got in Mexico that was inlaid with various metals and obsidian and malachite. It was a design that look like a face by Picasso but after I looked at it closely it was actually a parrots head. I had various pieces of Mexican silver but it was stolen. So it makes me happy and a little sad when you find Mexican silver jewelry. By the way, for people who can't afford solid gold they used to make slightly cheaper jewelry of silver but made it look like gold by plating it. I got a reproduction of a ancient Zapotec(?) Pendant of a vampire bat whose body is a pear shaped bell. I don't think it has 925 or anything like that on it. It's a reproduction and they didn't mark them with metal content hundreds of years ago. Next time you visit Mexico check out the museum in Oaxaca where they found an ancient tomb of a really important priest or something that had a bunch of gold jewelry. I think it's Zapotec. They probably have examples of what they found in that tomb in the archeological museum in Mexico City. It would be awesome if you were metal detecting near Oaxaca and found an ancient piece. Not likely I know since it's been so long. And Oaxaca is a great place to visit since the weather is warm and comfortable in the winter. We went swimming in the hotel pool when we visited there Christmas. And saw the radish festival they hold around Christmas. They have a competition of dioramas made from radishes then. Nice people in Oaxaca too.
