I would say as long as you don't damage your equipment or put yourself at risk then it's fine for we all favor what we are familiar with or prefer. We can choose a knife, a khukri, a heavy or light machete, or a typical axe or hatchet or some variation of everything I mentioned or a hybrid and some may prefer to saw their firewood which is a safer less violent method.

Not necessarily a right or wrong way but there certainly is a more and less efficent way. There is also a practical or and impractical way and an intelligent way and a stupid way. I mean it is one thing to process enough wood for a night or 2 with a knife but try processing enough to last an entire winter. Not exactly smart or sustainable.
