@heapheaphurray shows you how to do the perfect Mini Band Abduction- We often have some unused butt muscles that we need to pay attention to! The mini band abduction engages the glute medius and glute minimus muscles. These smaller glute muscles are not used as much in everyday life because they are used for knee stabilization during lateral movement. If you are a skier, tennis player, or need to dodge something in a flash you should pay attention! Place a mini band around your ankles. Stand up tall and bring one foot in the air while turning it slightly “pigeon toed.” While keeping an upright posture, take your leg out laterally as far as you can. Bring it back to the starting position and attempt to keep your foot in the air for all 10 repetitions. Repeat with the other leg and do two sets. By keeping your foot in the air, you are also improving hip strength in the leg that is on the floor because it is keeping you up, talk about a double whammy!
