I remember one time during one of my lessons a guy who was a friend of my instructor shouted abuse at me out of his car window after I had messed up at a bend. Turned out he was sarcastically trying to joke with the instructor and not myself but I didn't register that it was his friend at the time.
Went and reported the guy secretly, turned out he didn't even have a license. The worst drivers themselves are always the first ones to criticise the learners.

Iāve been driving 6 years now, if a driver dares to beep me if I am waiting for a genuine reason such as for something they havenāt seen I take great delight in making them wait even longer to prove the point. Iām way beyond the āother drivers being intimidatingā phase

Yeah this has happened to me more than once. One time on a busy roundabout too. I wanted to sit there when a safe gap came up but last thing I needed was a driver who was angry to do something reckless

Aside from being rude it's just moronic to beep learners for being slow. They don't suddenly get better at the clutch because someone is breathing down their neck. If they panic they stall & it will be karma for the person who beeped rather than being patient...

The guy that taught nearly everyone at my highschool had signs on his car saying student driver. While I didnāt personally learn from him, Iāve heard that if people honked, he would have the student put it in park and turn on the hazards. And on more than one occasion, would get out and give a strongly worded messages about āwhat the fcuk student driver means!!!!ā before ushering them around the now parked car.
Dude was like 6ft 4 and looked like he lived at the gym, so I feel like people probably got the message

Fortunately, in all my lessons, no one ever honked at me, there were some instances where it would have been justified but I guess I got lucky by having patient people behind.

I failed my first driving test as a teenager because the car behind decided to overtake and beep halfway through my three-point-turn. š

Same happened to me. First time on the road I stalled moving off at traffic lights. Knob behind me beeped, so I stalled again and he had to sit through another red light, which he wouldnāt have had to if he hadnāt beeped and panicked me. Karma happened quickly for that guy.
I donāt know why people are so awful to learners. I had someone on a 30mph road while I was going 30, flash his beams at me repeatedly while getting up my arse, at 5pm so it was light out, no need for beams, he then overtook me on a bend, and slowed right down because he was about to speed through a speed camera, so I had to brake hard to avoid him. People like that are far more dangerous than any learner.

I stalled the car in my actual driving test on traffic lights. I stayed calm and restarted the car. In my country stalling the car is not a fault of any kind if you don't make a big deal of it and just continue what you were doing. I passed the test.

Just don't fucking honk at people if you're not trying to get their attention. The horn is for communication, not your anger therapy
