Those could mean very different things to a modern audience. It’s so interesting that how different words mean different things at different times.

KJV is like a Doctor telling a patient,”Based on your echocardiogram, you’re exhibiting signs of left ventricular hypertrophy with reduced ejection fraction, consistent with dilated cardiomyopathy. The myocardial tissue is under increased strain, which will likely require a beta-blocker titration along with ACE inhibitor therapy. We’ll also need to evaluate for potential arrhythmogenic complications.”

NIV is like a Doctor who tells his patient,”The tests show that your heart muscle has become weaker and enlarged. Because of that, it’s not pumping blood as strongly as it should. This can make you feel tired, short of breath, or cause swelling in your legs. The good news is, we have medicines that can help your heart work better and lower the risk of serious problems.”

For those of us who have made lengthy study of the Complete Works of Shakespeare will find the King James Bible reasonably understandable. Not everyone has, though, therefore we are blessed with multiple translations of the word of God in English of which I possess several 😀

The NIV makes more sense to us and is easier to understand, but the KJV is so beautifully written and spoken. And when I take the time to slow down and really think about what it’s saying it enhances my time in the Bible. But if I am just doing a quick read it’s more of a waste

To me there is a difference between supplication and petition. It might be nuanced, but it is there. I do like the succinctness of the KJV.

The NIV reads like an auto manual.

Just one. Not much time.
Be careful for nothing means exactly that. If you do everything for God you do not have to be careful because he keeps you safe, until he wants to bring you home.
Not being anxious means do not be nervous about anything.

Definitely prefer the NIV. Even if the NIV1984 wasn't one of my 2 favourite translations, I definitely find "guard" rather than "keep" (as used in it's 21st century context) is closer to the original meaning of φρουρήσει (phrourēsei). I definitely prefer the NIV1984 translation of ἐν παντὶ (en panti) as "in everything" to the NIV2011 translation as "in every situation" though

The KJV uses English in ways and words that we don't anymore. No one uses "careful" like that now. Also, the NIV makes the second half of verse 7 more understandable by the use of the word "in" instead of "through"

Ahhh, sadly I would love to read it, but the comments from YouTube pop up over the top of the text you have overlayed. I get the point, though!

be careful in nothing... not very good advice, but I guess in the English language of 400 years ago it may have meant something else😂

English is my second language so to me be careful for nothing sounds strange.

Be careful in nothing. What does that mean should I be careless, should I not care? I am sure it meant something different in 1611

Tying to get us to actually READ the Bible, not just collect them. Really clever, I see you.
